About 1/3 of cases is infertility due to woman.
Most common causes are:
hormonal disorders (polycystic ovary syndrome, premature menopause, irregular ovulation) affecting both normal ovulation and the quality of eggs produced,
fallopian tube obstruction usually after inflammations and infections (hydrosalpinx),
endometriosis,
uterine conditions (fibromyoma, septate uterus),
unfriendly cervical environment (unfriendly/ inadequate to sperm cervical mucus antisperm antibodies and delays in having a child – increased female age),
genetic-chromosomal anomalies,
reproductive organ adhesions after previous surgeries and inflammations such as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), which may have been induced by sexually transmitted diseases such as Chlamydia and blennorrhea,
immune causes (presence of various “hostile” to the foetus antibodies in female serum),
lifestyle-related causes (anxiety, smoking, alcohol, work environment).
